It appears the Detroit Red Wings may have a new look when the lockout-shortened season begins later this month.

According to mlive.com, forward Tomas Holmstrom is expected to announce his retirement before the season begins and Henrik Zetterberg is expected to be named captain.

Holmstrom, who turns 40 in a few weeks, scored 243 goals and added 287 assists in 1,026 games over 15 NHL seasons.

Holmstrom, who was selected 257th overall in the 1994 NHL Draft, scored most of his goals from just outside the crease, doing his best to screen the opposition goaltender.

On the ice, Zetterberg is expected to replace future Hall of Famer Nicklas Lidstrom as captain. The report indicates Pavel Datsyuk and Niklas Kronwall will remain as alternate captains.
