Unrestricted free agent forward Jason Arnott and the New York Rangers have agreed to a one-year deal worth somewhere between $1.6-$1.7 million.

Arnott is en route to New York City as the contract is being finalized.

Interest in the veteran's services picked up this week with two teams heavily involved, according to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger.

Arnott had 17 goals and 17 assists with the St. Louis Blues last season. In 1,244 career regular-season games, Arnott has 417 goals and 938 points. In 122 postseason games, he has 32 goals and 73 points and won a Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils in 2000.

The 38-year-old has been skating during the lockout near his Dallas-area home.
