Munz: Pavelec starts as Jets try to close trip with win

The (8-9-1) Winnipeg Jets conclude a five-game road trip tonight against the (8-7-2) New York Rangers.

The Jets have a 3-1 record on the trip so far.

Ondrej Pavelec will start his eighth consecutive game in goal. Tonight is his 204th NHL game which ties him with Kari Lehtonen for the most games played in the Atlanta/Winnipeg organization.

Evander Kane is on an NHL-high seven-game point streak (four goals, three assists). He has scored in three consecutive games.

Blake Wheeler has two goals and three assists in his last three straight games.

Grant Clitsome and Alexander Burmistrov each have a goal and assist in their last two games.

Andrew Ladd leads all NHL captains with 10 goals. Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby and Eric Staal of Carolina each have nine.

Winnipeg hopes for continued success based on Sunday's game against the Devils when their power play was 50 per cent (1 for 2). Scoring ended a drought of 0/21 in their prior eight games.

The Rangers are coming off a 3-0 loss in Montreal and a 3-2 shootout loss in Ottawa.

New York has scored just 41 goals this season, the lowest of any team in the Eastern Conference.

The Rangers have a 3-0 record against the Southeast Division this season.

Marian Gaborik has 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists) in 17 games lifetime vs Atlanta/Winnipeg.

Brad Richards has just two assists in his last seven games, however lifetime against the Thrashers/Jets in 50 games he has 55 points (18 goals, 37 assists).

Rick Nash has missed the last three games due to injury.

Henrik Lundqvist is expected to start in goal. He is winless in his last two games.
