Vancouver Canucks forward Ryan Kesler, who missed the first 12 games of the season recovering from off-season surgeries, is now dealing with another injury.

Kesler has a broken right foot and was seen wearing an air cast at practice on Wednesday. According to reports, he suffered the injury in a game against the Dallas Stars on Feb. 21.

Despite two earlier negative x-rays, head coach Alain Vigneault confirmed that CT scan results showed a fracture and he said the nature of the injury may keep Kesler out of the lineup up to four-to-six weeks.

"I assume Kesler will be out for a little while," Vigneault said. "He's blocked a few shots since he's been back. That foot had taken two X-rays. He's been playing. Other than some discomfort he was handling it well.

"Yesterday he came in and told the doctor he still felt a little discomfort so just for peace of mind they decided to do a CT scan," Vigneault said. "We didn't get the results we had been anticipating obviously."

Kesler has yet to miss time due to the injury and played 19:07 in the Canucks loss to the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday.

In seven games this season, the 28-year-old has one goal and four assists.

Andrew Ebbett will likely be called up to take Kesler's spot in the lineup.

Earlier in the day, the team placed forward Aaron Volpatti on waivers.
