The Washington Capitals have claimed forward Aaron Volpatti on waivers from the Vancouver Canucks.

The 27-year-old had one goal and 28 penalty minutes in 16 games this season.

The fourth-liner will likely be expected to bring depth and toughness to the Capitals lineup.

In a corresponding move, the Canucks recalled centre Andrew Ebbett from the AHL Chicago Wolves.

Ebbett has skated in five games for the Canucks this season, recording two penalty minutes and averaging 11:50 minutes of ice time per-game. In 32 games with the Wolves this season, he registered 25 points and eight penalty minutes.
