Munz: Jets look to extend winning streak against Capitals

The Winnipeg Jets (10-9-1) host the Washington Capitals (7-11-1) at 2pm ct (TSN 1290) this afternoon at MTS Centre.

Ondrej Pavelec will start his ninth consecutive game in goal for the Jets, who are winners of three straight and currently sitting eighth in the Eastern Conference standings.

Winnipeg has scored the first goal in each of their last seven games.

Grant Clitsome is on a four-game point streak (1 goal, 3 assists).

Ron Hainsey has three assists in his last two games.

Evander Kane has 13 points (9 goals, 4 assists) in 16 games lifetime against Washington.

The Capitals are coming off a 4-1 loss in Philadelphia Wednesday. They are 5-5 in their last 10 games, and with 15 points on the season, sit last in the Eastern Conference standings.

Braden Holtby is expected to start his 10th consecutive game in goal.

Alex Ovechkin has 70 points (34 goals, 36 assists) in 49 career games against Atlanta/Winnipeg. He is six points shy of 700 in his NHL career.

Washington claimed forward Aaron Volpatti off waivers Thursday from Vancouver. The former Manitoba Moose had one goal and 28 penalty minutes in 16 games with the Canucks this season.

Former Jet Eric Fehr has four goals and three assists in his last eight games.

The Caps have the 3rd best power play in the NHL working at 27 percent.

Mike Green, Marcus Johansson and Jack Hillen will all not be playing due to injuries.

In the first meeting of the season between these Southeast Division rivals back on January 22, Tobias Enstrom led the Jets with three points in a 4-2 win.
