(Sports Network) - The Calgary Flames will look to slow down the San Jose Sharks tonight when the two teams meet for the second time this season.
The Flames come into this meeting having won three straight at home and they snapped a two-game slide with Sunday's 4-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks.
Jarome Iginla had the game-winner and Mike Cammalleri scored twice. Lee Stempniak also scored and Jiri Hudler had two assists.
Iginla has scored five goals in his past four games, Cammalleri has four goals in his past four and Hudler has five assists in the previous two games.
However, the big story to come out of Sunday was the first career victory for goaltender Danny Taylor, who made 29 saves in his second start.
"It's a big moment, first [NHL] victory, he'll remember it for a long time," Flames head coach Bob Hartley said of Taylor, who was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the seventh round of the 2004 draft.
Miikka Kiprusoff returns from a sprained MCL suffered on Feb. 5 and gets the start in goal this evening.
The Sharks set a franchise best by winning their first seven games of the season, but followed up that stretch with a 1-6-3 stretch. However, they have points in four straight (3-0-1) and have won back-to-back games for the first time since that season-opening win streak.
San Jose was in action on Tuesday evening and recorded a 3-2 shootout win over the Vancouver Canucks. Scott Gomez and Adam Burish both scored their first goals of the season, while Joe Pavelski and Logan Couture scored in the shootout.
Antti Niemi made 36 saves as the Sharks picked up the win despite Martin Havlat sitting out with a lower body injury.
Gomez and Burish picked up the slack with rare goals. Gomez's was his first since last Feb. 17 while with Montreal and only his third in his past 53 NHL games, while Burish scored for the first time in 45 games.
"That gave us an opportunity to win. Our four guys that score a lot for our team weren't even on the board tonight and we still found a way to win. That's a real positive for our team," said Sharks head coach Todd McLellan, who matched Ron Wilson for the most wins in franchise history with 206.
McLellan was probably referring to the group of Pavelski, Couture, Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton, who combined for eight points in a 4-1 win at Calgary on Jan. 20.
Marleau scored twice, while the other three each had two assists as the Sharks beat the Flames for the third time in their past four in Calgary. They have also won six of the past eight in this series overall.
