The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed Mike Komisarek on waivers.

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger has also reported that Komisarek has waived his no-movement clause. If he is claimed by another NHL club he will report to his new team, otherwise he will report to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.

The 31-year old New York native has seen limited time on the team's blue line this season, appearing in just four games registering no points a plus-two rating and two penalty minutes.

A big-name free agent signing in 2009, Komisarek still has one more year remaining on his deal beyond this season at an average annual value of $4.5 million.

Originally selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the first round (seventh overall) at the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Komisarek was allowed to leave town as an unrestricted free agent and opted to sign with the arch-rival Leafs.

In 519 career NHL games with the Canadiens and Leafs, Komisarek has scored 14 goals and 63 assists with a minus-15 rating.

An All-Star in his final season in Montreal, Komisarek has struggled to stay healthy under great expectations in Toronto.

In his first season in Toronto he was limited to just 34 games and was forced to withdraw from the U.S. men's hockey team that competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics due to a shoulder injury he sustained in January of that year.

He would, however, rebound to play 75 games for Toronto in 2010-11, but appeared in only 45 games in 2011-12.

The semifinals continue as Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk faces Cody Hodgson of the Sabres.
