The Winnipeg Jets (16-13-2) host the Washington Capitals (13-16-1) in a 6:00PM CT faceoff at MTS Centre.
Dennis Beyak, Shane Hnidy
and I will have the play-by-play on TSN Radio 1290 and TSN1290.ca.
Despite Thursday night's 4-0 loss to the Capitals, the Jets remain two points ahead of Carolina for first place in the Southeast Division standings. Washington is fourth; seven points behind Winnipeg. Ondrej Pavelec
will start his ninth consecutive game in goal for the Jets.
Head coach Claude Noel would not confirm his roster for tonight's game; however, Mark Stuart
is questionable due to an injury sustained last night. Expect Paul Postma
to play if Stuart can't. Postma has been a healthy scratch for the past seven games.
After being held off the score sheet last night to end his five-game point streak (one goal and five assists), Andrew Ladd
looks to avoid going pointless in back-to-back games for the first time this season.
Washington head coach Adam Oates
confirmed he will play the same roster tonight that was successful in their 4-0 victory, meaning Braden Holtby
will start his fourth straight game in goal.
Holtby has two shutouts (35 saves on March 2 and 20 saves last night) against the Jets in the regular season series as Washington has won two of three games. The Caps have outscored the Jets 9-4. Alex Ovechkin
and Nicklas Backstrom
each have five points (one goal and four assists) in those games.
Ovechkin has scored one goal in each of his past three games. He also has two assists for five points in his last nine periods of hockey. Troy Brouwer
is also on a three-game point streak (two goals and two assists).
The Jets conclude their four-game homestand Sunday against the Tampa Bay Lightning (TSN 1290 and TSN Jets)
