Ryane Clowe will have to sit and wait.

The 30-year-old winger was held out of the San Jose Sharks' Monday night home contest against the Vancouver Canucks.

Clowe has appeared in the Sharks' last three games but has been the subject of trade rumours in advance of Wednesday's NHL trade deadline.

In 28 games with the Sharks so far in 2013, Clowe has registered 11 assists, 79 penalty minutes and a minus-four rating.

The Mount Pearl, Newfoundland-native is in the final year of a four-year deal he signed with San Jose prior to the 2009-10 season worth an average annual value of $3.625 million.

Clowe has spent his entire eight-year career with the Sharks. He has scored 101 goals and 170 assists in 423 career games.

He has appeared in 68 career post-season games with the Sharks, scoring 18 goals and 27 assists.

Originally selected in the sixth round (175th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Clowe is the fourth-highest Newfoundland-born player in NHL history.
