Munz: Pavelec faces Peters as Jets host Hurricanes

The (22-19-2) Winnipeg Jets host the (17-23-2) Carolina Hurricanes in a 7pm ct faceoff at MTS Centre.

The Jets trail Washington by four points for first place in the Southeast Division and are ninth in the Eastern Conference standings, even with the New York Rangers at 46 points. The Capitals play in Ottawa tonight, while the Rangers are at home to Florida.

Ondrej Pavelec will start his ninth consecutive game in goal. During the Jets' current four-game winning streak, Pavelec has a goals against average of 1.75 and a .939 save percentage. Also in those four wins, the Jets have outscored their opposition 19-7.

Tonight is Bryan Little's 400th NHL game.

Captain Andrew Ladd has scored four goals in his last three games and is on a five-game point streak (four goals, five assists).

Blake Wheeler (two goals, five assists) and Bryan Little (one goal, six assists) are on four-game point streaks.

Zach Bogosian has four assists in his last two games.

Olli Jokinen has 59 points (22 goals, 37 assists) in 58 games lifetime against Carolina. Evander Kane has 17 points (7 goals, 10 assists) in 16 games.

Carolina is coming off a 3-2 loss in Ottawa Tuesday night. They have just two wins in their last 17 games.

Justin Peters will start his fifth straight game in goal.

This will be Kirk Muller's 100th game as head coach of the Hurricanes.

Tim Wallace is expected to replace Jeff Skinner. Skinner has flown home to Raleigh to be re-evaluated by team doctors.

Eric Staal is on a four-game point streak (one goal, four assists).

Jiri Tlusty (two goals, one assist) and Justin Faulk (one goal, two assists) are on two-game point streaks.

Winnipeg has won two of three games against Carolina this season by a combined score of 9-7. Kane is leading the Jets in those three games with two goals and four assists. Tlusty leads the Hurricanes with three goals.
