Throughout the Stanley Cup Playoffs, NHL on TSN analyst and former NHL goaltender Jamie McLennan ranks the netminders after each game night.
Number values assigned are out of five with five being the best performance.
Carey Price - 1 - Stoppable pucks on all four goals. When he is on his game, it's nothing through the body and his rebound control is great. Silverberg's goal may glance a bit off Gorges, but he still allows it through the body, As well as Karlsson's goal and the fourth goal is a non-factor, if he sucks up the original shot by Silverberg, the positioning was there and the execution was not.
Craig Anderson - 5 - Was the star of the game. Thrives on lots of work, made big saves and was extremely aggressive in the net. High level of compete on every puck. Showed why he has had a Vezina season and Vezina numbers.
Braden Holtby - 5 - No chance on the goal against, was huge killing the 5-on-3 against. Looked calm, confident and in control all game long. Picked up where he left off last spring for the Caps.
Henrik Lundqvist - 3 - Was forced to make some big saves as usual as the Rangers gave up some quality chances to the Caps. The Chimera goal against was a bad goal and at a bad time when the Caps had just scored.
Jonas Hiller - 2 - Bad first goal against early on and it didn't get much better for him. When you have a butterfly - first style, the focus is get the pucks high, a thing that Brunner and Abdelkader did, made a huge glove save in the 3rd period at 4 to 2, to keep them in the game and a game saving save with 40 seconds left in regulation.
Jimmy Howard - 2 - Was good early on in the game to allow the Wings to stay ahead and with momentum. Big saves on Selanne/Getzlaf in the first period kept the Wings ahead. Two of the third period goals were short side that he would like back.
Jonathan Quick - 2 - A bad GWG late that cost the game. The focus is not on the saves you make - which he did make some absolute beauties, but the goals you allow, a backbreaking goal with under a minute left leaves the Kings in a hole going back home.
Brian Elliott - 4 - Very good crease management. Efficient, and compact, was good all night with his rebound control and puck handling. Confident goalie translates to a confident team.
