The Second Round of TSN.ca's 2013 Play of the Year Showdown rolls on with a strong match-up of quick feet, fast hands and sheer determination.
Detroit Red Wings forward, Pavel Datsyuk narrowly won his first round match against Michael Grabner of the New York Islanders, capturing 52.49% of the votes, while the Florida Panthers' Shawn Matthias defeated Henrik Zetterberg, finishing with 77.44% of the votes, easily heading to Round Two.
This POY entry by Datsyuk showcases his hands, vision and perseverance. He starts by throwing a solid hit in his own defensive zone, and by the time this play is over, Datsyuk makes every single Nashville player on the ice look silly.
Matthias nets his POY candidate on the penalty kill as he out-hustles, out-works and out-plays Bruins rookie defenceman Dougie Hamilton. He then brings it all together with some slick hands and finishes the play off in style for the short-handed goal.
