The Edmonton Oilers look to be in the process of trying to lock up one of their centres, as sources tell TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger that the Oilers have offered Sam Gagner a multi-year contract extension.

Dreger added, however, that there is still work to do to get a deal done.

The 23-year-old Gagner had 14 goals and 38 points in 48 games for Edmonton this season, his sixth in the NHL.

The former sixth-overall draft pick has 91 goals and 258 points in 414 career games.
