The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed defenceman Frederic St. Denis to a one-year, two-way contract on Sunday.

The 27-year-old blueliner spent the last four seasons in the Montreal Canadiens organization, playing primarily for the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs. He had seven goals and 11 assists in 63 games for Hamilton last season, and appeared in 17 games with one goal and two assists for the Canadiens.

St. Denis was an unrestricted free agent after completing a two-way contract with the Canadiens. He earned $575,000 at the NHL level and $90,000 at the AHL level.

He was signed as a free agent by the Canadiens in July, 2010.
