The Edmonton Oilers and forward Sam Gagner have avoided arbitration after agreeing to terms on a three-year deal worth $14.4 million.
The average annual value of the deal is $4.8 million, and contains both no-trade and no-movement clauses for the second year of the package.
"So happy to remain an Edmonton Oiler for at least three more years," Gagner tweeted. "Thanks to everyone for the support. Time to get to work."
Gagner will earn $4.4 million next season and will be paid $5 million in each of the last two seasons of the deal.
The two sides reached the agreement just hours before they were scheduled to go before an arbitrator on Monday.
Last season, Gagner scored 14 goals and added 24 assists for 38 points in 48 games.
The London, Ontario native was drafted by the Oilers sixth overall in the 2007 Draft.
