One night after bruising his hand blocking a shot against the Ottawa Senators, Nazem Kadri was back at practice on Friday.

Late in the second period, Kadri blocked a shot with his hand and left the ice. He returned for the third period but left again after taking a face-off and did not return.

The results of the x-rays came back negative and the injury was diagnosed as a bruise.

Goaltender Jonathan Bernier also left Thursday night's game but did not practice on Friday.

Bernier is dealing with irritation on his knee from new equipment and left after the first period.

Joffrey Lupul, who returned to the ice Wednesday morning for the first time since injuring his back last week, spent Friday's entire practice with the team. Head coach Randy Carlyle says he's progressing and should be available for Saturday's contest in Buffalo.
