The NHL has announced that Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta will have an in-person hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Tuesday regarding an illegal check to the head of Columbus defenceman Jack Johnson.
Kaleta will remain suspended pending the hearing.
The in-person meeting means that Kaleta could be suspended for five games or longer as per the league's Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Kaleta hit Johnson near the boards in the Buffalo zone in the first period of Thursday night's game. No penalty was assessed for the hit, but Kaleta did receive a fighting major for engaging with Columbus forward Jared Boll after the check.
Johnson remained in the game after the hit, and the Blue Jackets beat the Sabres 4-1.
