Maxim Lapierre has been offered an in-person disciplinary hearing with the NHL after his hit from behind on San Jose Sharks defenceman Dan Boyle.

The offering of an in-person meeting means that Lapierre could be suspended for five games or longer as per the league's Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The St. Louis Blues forward caught Boyle from behind along the boards early in the Sharks' 6-2 win over St. Louis. Boyle was taken off on a stretcher and Lapierre was ejected from the game.

Lapierre was also suspended four games in 2010 for boarding while with the Montreal Canadiens. That play also occurred in a game against the Sharks.
