Montreal Canadiens forward Daniel Briere left Saturday's game against the Nashville Predators in the second period with a head injury.

Briere was skating through the Nashville zone without the puck when he was hit by Predators forward Eric Nystrom.

Briere remained on the ice for a few minutes before leaving for the dressing room. No penalty was called on the play.

Following the game, the Canadiens said that Briere suffered a concussion.

Also injured in Saturday's contest was Canadiens winger Brandon Prust.

Prust sustained an upper-body injury in the third period. The club said he will be re-evaluated on Sunday.

The Predators edged the Canadiens 2-1 in Saturday's contest.
