Buffalo Sabres tough guy John Scott will have an in-person hearing with NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan for his hit to the head of Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson Wednesday night.

The date and time of the hearing has yet to be determined.

Eriksson left the game early in the third period after taking a hit from Scott. He needed assistance to skate off and did not return to the bench.

Coach Claude Julien did not have an update on Eriksson's condition after the Bruins' 5-2 win.

"Obviously if he didn't come back it's serious enough," Julien said, according to the Bruins' Twitter feed. "We'll probably find out more, right now we're giving [the] trainers space."

Scott was given a major penalty for charging and five minutes for fighting Adam McQuaid.
