The Philadelphia Flyers are expected to play Saturday night against the Devils in New Jersey without forward Vincent Lecavalier.

Lecavalier was hurt Friday night during fights in a 7-0 loss to Washington and is listed as day-to-day with a facial contusion.

Lecavalier suffered the injury in a third-period scrap against Steve Olesky.

Flyers forward Steve Downie was also injured in Friday's game.

Downie sustained a head injury in a second-period bout with Aaron Volpatti. He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after the game and on Sunday, Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said he is doing better but remains in hospital.

Holmgren said Downie will be released Sunday and is out indefinitely with a concussion.

The teams combined for 164 penalty minutes, including 10 fighting majors and five game misconducts.

Flyers goaltender Ray Emery was among those who was ejected after skating the length of the ice to fight Caps netminder Braden Holtby, who was a reluctant participant and took the punishment. Holtby was not ejected.
