Leafs recall Smith ahead of Sabres game; assign Liles to AHL

The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled forward Trevor Smith from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League ahead of Friday night's game against the Buffalo Sabres.

Smith has one goal in nine games with the Leafs, while registering four goals, eight assists in seven games with the Marlies.

The Leafs sent defenceman John-Michael Liles to the Marlies to make room for Smith.

Liles is yet to appear in an NHL game in 2013-14.
