The Winnipeg Jets recalled defenceman Zach Redmond from the St. John's IceCaps of the American Hockey League on Friday.

The move was made after the Jets decided to move defenceman Dustin Byfuglien from the blue line to forward at practice.

The 25-year-old has played in 17 games with St. John's this year, recording five goals and eight assists.

The native of Traverse City, Michigan has played in 11 career NHL games, all with Winnipeg, tallying one goal and three assists over two seasons. He also has 12 penalty minutes.

Redmond was originally drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the seventh round, 184th overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
