Flames ink Stajan to four-year, $12.5M contract extension

The Calgary Flames have come to terms with centre Matt Stajan, inking a four-year, $12.5 million contract extension with the unrestricted free agent.

The 30-year-old was in the final season of a four-year, $14 million deal.

Stajan has seven goals and 10 assists with a minus- 18 rating through 41 games this season. He has 693 career NHL games under his belt, which is the most among any current Flames skater, and has amassed 29 goals and 105 points in 248 contests since joining the Flames.

The Mississauga, ON, native was acquired by Calgary on Jan. 31, 2010, along with Niklas Hagman, Jamal Mayers and Ian White, from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Keith Aulie, Dion Phaneuf and Fredrik Sjostrom.
