Mikko Koivu is officially out for the Olympics.

The Minnesota Wild forward announced he will not play for Team Finland, still recovering from surgery to repair an ankle fracture suffered in early January.

The 30-year-old played for Finland in 2006 and 2010, winning a silver in Torino and a bronze in Vancouver.

In 44 games this season, Koivu has eight goals and 35 points.
