The United States men's hockey team is turning back to Jonathan Quick after a strong performance against Slovakia on Thursday.
USA Hockey announced Friday that Quick will start on Saturday when they play the host team, Russia.
Quick stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced against Slovakia as his team rolled to a 7-1 victory.
The Los Angeles Kings netminder draws the start over Ryan Miller, who led the United States to silver at the Vancouver 2010 games, and Jimmy Howard of the Detroit Red Wings.
TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports coach Dan Bylsma is changing his defence pairings in an attempt to shut down the offensively-charged Russian squad. Bylsma will pair Ryan McDonagh with Ryan Suter while Pittsburgh Penguins defencemen Paul Martin and Brooks Orpik will form another shutdown tandem to try to stop Russia's top lines.
Russia defeated Slovenia 5-2 on Thursday.
