Alex Galchenyuk is closer to returning to the lineup, as head coach Michel Therrien said the Montreal Canadiens forward has been cleared for contact at practice.
However, Therrien added that Galchenyuk's status for next Wednesday's game against the Detroit Red Wings is questionable.
Galchenyuk has been out since Jan. 6 with a broken right hand. In 44 games with the Canadiens, Galchenyuk has scored 10 goals and added 13 assists.
Meanwhile, winger Brandon Prust missed practice on Thursday after leaving Wednesday's skate early. The team said he has an upper body injury and his status is day-to-day.
