Blue Jackets acquire Tyrell, Taormina from Lightning

The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired forward Dana Tyrell and defenceman Matt Taormina from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for forward Jonathan Marchessault and left winger Dalton Smith.

Tyrell appeared in seven games with the Lightning this year, he had no points in those appearances.

The 24-year-old has seven goals and 17 assists in 132 career NHL games, all coming with the Lightning.

He was selected in the second round, 47th overall, of the 2007 draft.

Taormina had no points in seven games with the Lightning this season.

Taormina has four goals and eight assists in 56 career NHL games. He is 27-years-old.

Smith, 21, scored four goals and five assists in 50 games Springfield Falcons of the AHL this season.

He was selected 34th overall in the second round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Marchessault, 23, ha 14 goals and 41 points in 56 games with the AHL Falcons.
