CALGARY - The Calgary Flames have signed defenceman Brett Kulak to a three-year, US$2.45-million entry-level contract.

The 20-year-old native of Stony Plain, Alta., has 14 goals and 46 assists in 69 games with the Western Hockey League's Vancouver Giants this season.

Calgary drafted Kulak in the fourth round (105th overall) of the 2012 NHL draft.

He made his professional debut at the end of last season when he played four games with the AHL's Abbotsford Heat.
