The Montreal Canadiens announced on Thursday evening that forward Alex Galchenyuk will miss the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs with a lower-body injury.

Galchenyuk was hit into the boards by Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw on Wednesday night and was forced to leave the game after taking one more shift. The 20-year-old had an MRI on Thursday.

The Canadiens will play the Tampa Bay Lightning in the opening round.
