The Tampa Bay Lightning have used their second compliance buyout on forward Ryan Malone, the team announced on Wednesday.

Malone will become an unrestricted free-agent and as per the collective bargaining agreement, the Lightning will be responsible for two-thirds of the remainder of his contract over twice the length of the rest of the deal.

The 34-year-old forward has one-year, $2.5 million remaining on a seven-year deal that began in the 2008-09 season.

Malone's contract has a cap hit of $4.5 million per season.
