The Dallas Stars have signed forward Vernon Fiddler to a two-year, $2.5 million contract.
The deal pays Fiddler $1 million next season and $1.5 million in the second year.
Fiddler, 34, recorded six goals and 17 assists in 76 regular-season games with Dallas in 2013-14. Fiddler registered one goal and two assists in six games during the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
An 11-year NHL veteran, Fiddler scored 77 goals and added 129 assists in 656 career games with the Stars, Nashville Predators and Phoenix Coyotes.
"As a staff, we all agree that we had a special dressing room and Vern has been a driving force behind shaping that culture," said Nill. "He is a hard-nosed, detailed player that brings intensity and passion to the game every time he steps on the ice. We value everything that he brings to the table and are thrilled to keep him in the fold for the next two seasons."
The club also signed left wing Brendan Ranford to a three-year, entry-level contract on Wednesday.
