With the off-season additions of a pair of veteran defencemen, Cody Franson knows his time in Toronto could be numbered, but on the heels of a new one-year, $3.3 million deal, took the high road saying he had no interest in playing in another uniform next season.

“I'm very fortunate that we were able to avoid that process and I'm very happy to be a Leaf.” Franson told TSN 1050 Monday afternoon. ”I'm still very hopeful that I spend the full season here.”

The subject of multiple trade rumours following the acquisitions of Roman Polak and Stephane Robidas, the 26-year-old defenceman said he's looking to move on from the rumours that had him on his way to the Montreal Canadiens before Josh Gorges refused to waive his no-trade clause, nixing a potential deal.

“Toronto is the place I wanna be for a long time and to hear your name pop up in something that supposedly had some truth to it wasn't exactly what you're hoping to hear,” Franson said.

Entering his fourth season with the Leafs after being acquired from the Nashville Predators, the right-handed blueliner led the team in scoring amongst defenceman in 2013-14, and will become an unrestricted free agent after next season.
