The Detroit Red Wings agreed to terms on Monday with left winger Tomas Tatar on a new three-year, $8.25 million contract. According to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun, the deal has an average annual value of $2.75 million per season.
Tatar was a restricted free agent after completing his three-year, entry-level contract.
According to Helene St. James of The Detroit Free Press, his late December birthday means that Tatar will have one more season of restricted free agent status at the end of the new deal in 2017.
The 23-year-old had 19 goals and 20 assists in 73 games for the Red Wings last season.
