Wild trade Marshall to Sharks

SAN JOSE, Calif (CP) - The San Jose Sharks acquired defenceman Jason Marshall from the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2004 draft.

``We are pleased to add Jason to our organization as he provides experience, character and depth,'' Sharks GM Doug Wilson said in a release. ``He fits the mould of what we look for in a player.''

Marshall, 33, has split this season between Minnesota and its AHL affiliate, the Houston Aeros.

In 12 NHL games, he has one goal and four assists while in 49 AHL games, he had seven and 12 assists.

Over his 10-year career with Minnesota, Washington and Anaheim the native of Cranbrook, B.C., has 16 goals and 45 assists in 491 NHL games.
