The Toronto Maple Leafs and forward Alex Steen have agreed to a two-year contract extension believed to pay Steen $1.7 million per year.

The 23-year-old Steen has 10 goals and 26 points in 56 games for the Maple Leafs this season.

The son of former NHLer Thomas Steen was Toronto's 24th overall selection in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He suited up for Goteburg, Frolunda and Modo before making his North American and NHL debut with Toronto during the 2005-06 season.

In 213 career games, Steen has 43 goals and 106 points.
