Red Wings' forward Johan Franzen, who hasn't played since May 8 because of concussion-like symptoms, will not play against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.

"I'm not playing tomorrow," Franzen said after practicing with the team on Friday.  "I'm doing more checkups tomorrow and just waiting for the doctor to clear me. I'm feeling good."

Franzen did not skate with the team for much of their Thursday practice but did go on the ice at the end to participate in light shooting drills.

Detroit coach Mike Babcock said he hoped to see his leading post-season scorer back in the lineup at some point in the series but also made it clear the final decision belonged not to him, but to team doctors.
