Expect to see Brendan Shanahan in the NHL next season.
According to a report on CNNSI.com, despite considering retirement following the New York Rangers' second-round playoff ouster, the 39-year old winger has decided he wants to play at least one more year.
The report states that returning to the Rangers is Shanahan's preferred choice and Rangers president Glen Sather told Shanahan he would like to bring the veteran back.
Shanahan is said to be looking for a one-year deal with New York, but if a deal can't be worked out he would reportedly consider offers from other teams. He has already been reportedly approached with some off-ice offers, including from media outlets.
Shanahan scored 23 goals and 21 assists last season, but was hampered by a strained knee he suffered in early January. He was 650 goals and 1340 points in 1490 career NHL games.
