Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - The Edmonton Oilers placed left wing Robert Nilsson on injured reserve on Friday.

To take his spot on the roster, the team recalled center Gilbert Brule from Springfield of the American Hockey League.

Nilsson suffered an upper body injury on November 30 in Dallas during a 4-3 loss to the Stars.

In 23 games this season, his fourth in the league and third with Edmonton, he has three goals and five assists.

Brule will be making his first appearance with the Oilers since the team obtained him from Columbus in the offseason. In 15 games with Springfield he has eight goals and four assists.
