The Montreal Canadiens have traded power forward Guillaume Latendresse to the Minnesota Wild for forward Benoit Pouliot.

Latendresse, 22, has scored two goals and recorded one assist so far this season.

The forward who was drafted in the second round, 45th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, has recorded 48 goals and 37 assists in 232 career NHL games.

Pouliot, 23, has two goals and two assists in 14 games with the Wild this season. In 65 career NHL games, the fourth selection in the 2005 draft has nine goals and nine assists.

Pouliot hasn't played since Nov. 13 with an upper-body injury, and is expected to need a few more days before he can play. He will arrive in Montreal on Tuesday afternoon.

"The forwards are two players at the same stage in their careers who were still looking to make a place for themselves with the teams that drafted them," Canadiens GM Bob Gainey said in a release. "Often times a different environment, new teammates and a new situation can be beneficial for a player."

The Canadiens also called up left winger Sergei Kostitsyn from the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs on Monday. He will join the Canadiens tonight in Montreal and will be at practice Tuesday.

In 16 games with the affiliate team this season, Kostitsyn has four goals and nine assists and is plus- 6.
