Vancouver Canucks' forward Alexandre Burrows has been fined $2,500 following his derisive comments regarding referee Stephane Auger after Monday's 3-2 loss to the Nashville Predators.

Burrows accused Auger of exacting revenge on him because of an incident from a previous game in which the referee felt the Canucks forward embarrassed him by faking an injury to draw a major penalty.

On Monday, Burrows was called for diving and interference in the third before receiving another minor for unsportsmanlike conduct and a 10-minute misconduct in the final seconds of the game.

"It was personal. It started in warmup, before the anthem," Burrows said of Auger's penalty calling. "(Auger) came over to me and he said I made him look bad in Nashville on the (Jerred) Smithson hit and he said he was going to get me back tonight."

Auger also whistled Henrik Sedin for a tripping penalty late in the third period which led to Shea Weber's winning goal on the power play.

"He comes into the game and he knows he's going to make a call against me to give Nashville an advantage and I don't think that's fair for my teammates and for the fans," said Burrows.
