The Montreal Canadiens' most coveted blue-chip forward is taking a new direction with his hockey career.
Centre Louis Leblanc, taken 18th overall by the Habs in last year's NHL Entry Draft, has enlisted player agent Pat Brisson and CAA Hockey as family advisors.
Leblanc played last season at Harvard, where he scored 11 goals and 23 points in 31 games and was a finalist for ECAC Rookie of the Year. College players are not allowed to have agents and Leblanc was previously represented by Kent Hughes as a family advisor.
LeBlanc's junior rights were owned by the QMJHL's Chicoutimi Sagueneens, who traded the Pointe Claire, Que., native to the Montreal Juniors over the weekend.
Brisson says at this point, Leblanc is committed to Harvard.
LeBlanc was the first Quebec-born player taken by the Canadiens in the first round since 1998.
