Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Anaheim Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler, their first-round draft choice, suffered a broken nose in the second period of Sunday's game against the Phoenix Coyotes.

The 18-year-old carried the puck on an end-to-end rush and after his stuffer at the right of the night was denied by Coyotes netminder Jason LaBarbera, he was checked heavily into the end boards by Shane Doan.

Fowler was down on the ice for a few moments before being helped to the dressing room, where he was attended to by team medical staff.

He had scored his first career goal just over three minutes into the period to give the Ducks a 1-0 lead in an eventual 3-2 victory.

Anaheim begins a four-game road trip Wednesday in Columbus and Fowler is listed as probable for the contest.
