Kyle Wellwood is making his way back to the NHL.

The 27-year-old free agent forward signed a one-year contract with the St. Louis Blues on Monday.

Wellwood spent the better part of this season playing with the Kontinental Hockey League's Mytishchi Atlant, recording five goals and three assists in 25 games.

In 2009-10, Wellwood scored 14 goals and 11 assists in 75 regular season games with the Vancouver Canucks.

For his career, Wellwood has played in 338 NHL games over six seasons, accumulating 160 points including 63 goals and 97 assists.

The Windsor, Ontario native was originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fifth round, 134th overall, of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
