The Carolina Hurricanes have re-signed forward Jussi Jokinen to a three year contract worth $3 million per season.

Jokinen has been with the Hurricanes since 2008-09 and had 19 goals and 52 points for the team last year. He scored a career-high 30 goals with the Hurricanes in 2009-10.

Jokinen earned $1.9 million last season.

During his six-season NHL career Jokinen has scored 103 goals and 289 points.

Jokinen was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the 6th round, 192nd overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He played two and a half seasons with the Stars before being traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

He was then traded to the Hurricanes from the Lightning on February 7, 2009 in exchange for Wade Brookbank, Josef Melichar and a 2009 fourth round draft pick.
