A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Meech was drafted in the seventh round of the 2002 NHL entry draft by the Detroit Red Wings and appeared in a career high 49 games in 2009-10.

The Jets also signed forward Tanner Glass to a one-year, $750,000 contract on Friday.
