Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to terms with right wing Anthony Stewart on a two-year contract.
Stewart, who spent last season with the since-relocated Atlanta franchise, will earn $800,000 for the 2011-12 season and $1 million in 2012-13.
"Anthony is a big man who plays a strong all-around game," said Hurricanes president and general manager Jim Rutherford in a statement. "He is coming off of a very good season with Atlanta and will be a strong addition to the Hurricanes' forward lines."
Stewart appeared in a career-high 80 games last season for the Thrashers, who have since moved to Winnipeg. He also set career bests with 14 goals and 25 assists for 39 points.
In 185 NHL games with Atlanta and Florida, the Quebec native has 18 goals and 33 assists for 51 points.
