The Detroit Red Wings welcomed Ty Conklin back to the team on Wednesday by signing the veteran goalie to a one-year contract.

The 35-year-old played for St. Louis last season and was 8-8-4 in 25 appearances. He played for the Red Wings in 2008-09 and has also spent time with Edmonton, Columbus, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh.

Conklin returns to the Red Wings one day after long-time Red Wings netminder Chris Osgood announced his retirement. He will share time with current Detroit starter Jimmy Howard.

The native of Anchorage, Alaska has played in 200 NHL games with 16 shutouts and a .908 save percentage.
