The Boston Bruins have re-signed forward Brad Marchand to a two-year, $5 million contract. He will make $2 million in 2011-12 and $3 million in 2012-13.

The deal will be announced at a news conference in Boston this afternoon.

Marchand, who had been a restricted free agent, scored 21 goals and 20 assists and was plus-25 last year in his first full season with the Bruins. The 23-year-old made his biggest impact in the post-season, though, with 11 goals and eight assists in 25 playoff games during Boston's run to the Stanley Cup.

The Halifax native was a third-round pick of the Bruins in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. The 5'9", 183-pound winger earned $600,000 plus $165,000 in bonuses last year in the final season of his three-year entry-level contract.
